Polkerris, Pilchards and Palaces. The pilchard fishery at Polkerris from the 16th century to the 19th century’ by Nigel Hall.

It is unusual to have an account of a pilchard fishery from as early as Tudor times, or from so far east in the county. Nigel has made a detailed study of the local fishery for his recent book, ‘Polkerris: a history of the village and its pilchard fishery’‘ and will give us an insight into the industry which was once so vital to the local economy of both Fowey and Polkerris.

Signed copies of his book will be available to purchase.
